Introducing The Nappy Site
"I loved using real nappies on my own son, but was fully aware of just how expensive they can be. I opted for buying second hand nappies which proved to be very economical & had less of an impact on the environment. This is why I set up thenappysite.co.uk; to offer a platform for buying & selling used nappies & also sharing advice with other parents." I have, until very recently, used ebay to buy second hand nappies. Well, there are so many different types to choose from; I wanted to try a number before deciding which ones to finally go for, without breaking the bank. However, when trying to sell some recently, the listing was removed. A very nice ebay adviser explained that used nappies, wraps and similar items are not allowed to be sold. I'm not sure when this rule came into being, but he's quite right. Here's what the official rules state: 'Used clothing may be listed on eBay, so long as the clothing has been thoroughly cleaned according to the manufacturer's instructions and is stain free. Used underwear including, but not limited to, boxer shorts, panties, briefs, athletic supporters and cloth nappies is not permitted. Listings that contain inappropriate descriptions will be ended.' Although there are still some for sale, the amount is going down fast. I think that this is a real shame. Even if you want to use brand new nappies in the end, buying a few used ones cheaply to try is an excellent idea. And what do you do if you buy a few new, and decide that cloth isn't for you after all? It's not that 'green' to then throw them away! This is what inspired me to develop this site. Many people have concerns about the environment and want to do their bit to help. I love using real nappies on my own son, but am fully aware of just how expensive they can be.
