Wonderoo One-Size Pocket Nappies: Instructions for use.

Added 17th of November 2008

Wonderoo One-Size Pocket Nappies

These are designed to fit a baby from birth to potty-training (8-35 lb approx.)

Wonderoos have 2 rows of poppers at the front of the nappies. The ones going across adjust the waist (10 poppers), the ones running down, adjust the height (3 poppers).

Before stuffing the nappy with inserts, the height needs to be correct.

Adjusting the height

Small setting: The height poppers need to be adjusted like this, with the top popper fastened to the bottom

Medium Setting: The top popper fastens to the middle.

Large setting: The height poppers are not fastened at all.

Stuffing the nappy

Once the height has been adjusted, the nappy can be stuffed with inserts. You can use anything absorbent, but Wonder-Fulls hemp or microfibre ones work well. These are one-size boosters, with small and large parts that can be poppered together. On the smaller setting, maybe just the small booster will work, this will reduce the bulk of the nappy.

Lay the nappy out flat, and place the insert/ inserts inside the nappy (there is an opening at the back). Make sure that the inserts are flat inside the nappy, and that they reach the sides of the nappy. If there are any gaps, you may well find you get leaks. For heavy wetters, you can place an additional booster or insert inside. I fold a thin hemp booster in half and place at the front, where Sam wets the most. Make sure that you don't over-stuff. If there isn't a snug fit around the waist and legs, again, you might get leaks. I think that finding the right boosters are the hardest bit with pockets. It's a matter of experimenting and seeing what works best for you.

Putting the nappy on

These are fleece lined, so you don't need another liner. However, you might to like to use a paper liner if baby is pre-weaned, or has "the runs"! It helps to reduce staining. If you are using a paper liner, place it on the nappy now. With your baby on the floor, place the nappy, laid out flat, underneath, so that the back of it comes up to the baby's waist. Use the poppers around the sides to fit the baby's waist. These pictures show the Wonderoo on the largest height setting.

With a tiny baby, the waist poppers can overlap.

Pocket nappies, remember, don't need a separate wrap. Once you have got the hang of the poppers, these nappies will be as quick to change as a disposable. I use my Wonderoo when taking Sam swimming. There aren't changing tables in all of the cubicles, so I can put these on while he is standing up. My squares would be a nightmare!

I hope you find these instructions useful. If you have anything that you feel would be helpful to add, please let me know and I will add it to the article. If you are having problems with these, or any other nappies, please contact me and I will try and help you. Be warned though- I'm not a pocket person!!
